About the Task Force

The 13th Judicial District Drug Task Force and Violent Crimes Unit is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional Task Force formed by District Attorney William E. Gibson and based in Putnam County, Tennessee. The Drug Task Force was originated by way of a federal grant from the Department of Justice. The 13th Judicial District is comprised of seven rural Upper Cumberland counties: Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, and White. The population of the 13th Judicial District is approximately 190,000 according to the latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The mission of the Drug Task Force is to investigate, arrest, and prosecute drug traffickers in the 13th Judicial District as well as disrupt the flow of narcotics into the Middle Tennessee area by assisting and sharing intelligence with other agencies throughout the State. The 13th Judicial District DTF has a close working relationship with law enforcement throughout the District and the State of Tennessee, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The 13th Judicial District Drug Task Force is committed to fighting the "War on Drugs" in the 13th Judicial District and the State of Tennessee.
